Yōji Takeshige Profile
Born in Philadelphia, 1964. Dropped out of Tama Art University's Oil Painting Department.
1984: Art debut with “Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise”
1988: Participated in “My Neighbor Totoro”
1991: Joined Studio Ghibli
Worked on nearly all Ghibli films since Totoro.
Holds the record for most art direction credits at Studio Ghibli.
2023: Began teaching background art at painting classes and participating in workshops and events nationwide with Nicker Paints.
Appeared on Nicker Paints' YouTube channel.
Series include “Yōji Takeshige's Joy of Painting” and “Painting Lessons from Master Yōji Takeshige: Starting from Zero”.
